5 Trench Foot-result of prolonged periods in wet, soggy boots in cold, water –filled trenches Feet swelled, blistered and caused intense pain Soldiers were ordered to change socks whenever possible

6 Trench Fever- caused by lice infestations High grade fever, aches, rashes

7 Other Physical Effects: Influenza Lice Infestation Respiratory Problems

8 Shell Shock- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder label for neuropsychiatric casualties of the war due to exploding shell blasts Side Effects- starry-eyes looks, violent tremors, expressions of terror and sometimes blindness and paralysis
