School routine For this unit the main skill I focused on was the speaking. As a first task, I wanted the students to gain the confidence they needed to produce language by stressing on the skill they fear most on the easiest topic to enhance the positivity towards languages and the forward thinking they needed in order to carry out the course and to see the importance of languages in the world of today.

With the following slide, I use it for a pair work. You can either add the word or not, using the pen tool of Active studio, depending on your pupils’ level and memorisation

Vocabulary I use the following slides to introduce/ remind the students of the vocabulary I then do a lot of repetition activities Then I make students practise the vocabulary in pairs Finally I use the slide show to test students’ memory and correct the pronunciation

The time I used ‘Bob the clock’ (as the students called it) to remind them of the way telling the time works. I stressed on the ‘y’ and ‘menos’ factor. I showed them the common error of: -Confusion between ‘cuatro’ and ‘cuarto’ -Similarity between ‘cuarto’ in Spanish and ‘quarter to’ in English

A few more words This Clock worksheet was created for pupils to revise the vocabulary they learnt in previous years. I used the slide on the interactive white board with the ‘Active studio2’ program for students to fill in their answers as we go along.

Speaking As the students are to practise their questions prior to the exams, the Spanish assistant recorded their 6 questions and answers using a microphone and the program called Audacity, and I downloaded the recording on their MP3 player, so that they could listen to it at any time, which keeping their ‘street cred’ intact.
