2. Answer 1 Father Christmas traditionally wore green as he is a derivation of the green man who appears in pagan folk lore. He was not associated with bringing gifts until the end of Victorian times. A relatively unknown artist drew him with a red robe for homemade Christmas cards in the 1890's and he (Father Christmas) was then adopted by the Coca Cola company and he has had a red robe ever since.
