2. A FRIEND IN JESUS: SONGS:

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear”
Abraham was called a friend of God. (Isa. 41:8; James 2:23)
John 15:14; You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

GOD IS OUR:
FRIEND (Isa. 41:8; James 2:23)
FATHER (1 Cor. 8:6)
KING AND CREATOR (Ps. 95:6)
LAWGIVER AND JUDGE (James 4:12)

5. JESUS IS OUR FRIEND GOD IS OUR FRIEND
The fact that we can be friends with God doesn’t mean that we can do whatever we want or that we don’t serve God with great reverence, honor, respect and fear.

6. GOD’S FRIENDSHIP: SELFLESS AND SACRIFICIAL
GOD’S FRIENSHIP IS OFFERED WHEN HE DOESN’T NEED IT
GOD’S FRIENSHIP IS OFFERED WHEN WE DON’T DESERVE IT
Rom. 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
WILL WE BE THIS KIND OF FRIEND?

7. GOD’S FRIENDSHIP: ENDURING
WHEN IT DOESN’T BENEFIT HIM
WHEN IT IS INCONVENIENT
“I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.” (HEBREWS 13:5)

8. FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.  Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.  In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.  Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.  Other times there were one set of footprints.  This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life  When I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,  I could see only one set of footprints.  So I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord,  That if I followed you, you would walk with me always.  But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life  There have only been one set of prints in the sand.  Why, When I have needed you most, you have not been there for me?" The Lord replied,  "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints  Is when I carried you."

9. GOD’S FRIENDSHIP: ENDURING
WHEN IT DOESN’T BENEFIT HIM
WHEN IT IS INCONVENIENT

10. GOD’S FRIENDSHIP: WILL PROVIDE REBUKE
PROV 27:6- “FAITHFUL ARE THE WOUNDS OF A FRIEND, BUT DECEITFUL ARE THE KISSES OF AN ENEMY.”
WILL WE BE THIS KIND OF FRIEND?
