10 Race Day Check-in Procedures Athletes Lounge Uniform check (name, country, ITU logo, zippers on back max 40 cm, other logos) – photos taken of each uniform. Uniform over both shoulders Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! No temporary tattoos No Bare skin between top and bottoms Decals (both arms, both legs)

11 Race Day Check-in Procedures Athletes Lounge Timing Chip / Swim Cap Remember: Helmet (three numbers) / Bicycle (one number) Uniform check for race and awards Bike check: saddle, areobars, wheels Leave your bags in lounge one bike per athlete bike warm-up before you enter lounge run warm-up (EM) on bike course

12 Check-in procedures Transition Area Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition The athlete who misses to comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1. Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike All Spare wheels bring to athletes lounge before the first race (need to be checked) If you want to add any equipment to the bike this needs to be approved by the TD at the end of the briefing

13 Pre-start Procedure Athlete Introduction: 10 minutes before start - line-up under ferry building gantry As introduced jog to the pontoon No water bottles on the pontoon Select your position at once and stay behind the line! Athlete blocking more than one place will result DSQ Remember there are two lines: one to line up (behind the number) and one to start (in front of number at the leading edge of the pontoon)

14 Start Procedure Athletes in position: The start can be given any time after the TD announces ”On your mark” Air horn blast The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

15 False Start Procedures False start Example 1: Several horn blasts Life guards in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot False start Example 2: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the athlete who false started will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1. Start continues as planned During the time penalty athlete can not take any equipment!

17 Swim course Water temperature: 27.3°C Air temperature: 31.8°C Wet bulb: 28.8 Decision on wetsuit one hour before each start 1 lap swim – 750m – clock wise Distance to the first turn buoy is 475m. Take cap, goggles to transition into your box

20 Transition Area continued Bike Racks – number, name and country flag Practice the flow of Transition  T1 – Rear wheel in rack  T2 – Front wheel in rack  Spare wheels: bring to lounge, will be transported to wheel stop by LOC. All wheels have to be checked before the start of the first race.

26 Run course 2 lap run – 2.5 km each – for a total of 5 km Aid stations: 2 per lap (accessible both sides) For locations see the map Sealed water and icepacks Caps will be opened and removed as you approach Discard plastic bottles within the drop zone (up to 50 m behind the aid station). If not: DSQ Photo-finish Congestion in finish area: Go to mixed zone / recovery area

28 Penalty Box Rule The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike and TA2 e..x.: Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, discharge or store your equipment outside your designated area, rack the bike outside your own space etc Location: 100m before the Transition Area Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board – coaches are advised to check and inform their athletes) Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run If you don’t stop DSQ No assistance while in the box

29 Penalty Box Rule interpretation Mount after the mount line: It has to be one contact of the athlete foot with the floor after the mount line. If this contact doesn’t occur the action is considered as mount the bike before the mount line. Dismount before the dismount line: It has to be one contact of the athlete foot with the floor before the dismount line. If this contact doesn’t occur the action is considered as dismount the bike before the dismount line. Discharge or store your equipment inside your designated area: Leaving the equipment (swim cap, googles, helmet, etc.) in the designated box. Rack the bike inside your own space: In case of Traditional bike rack, the bike must be racked with both sides of the handlebar or the sea post with 0,5m to the name plate. In case of Individual bike rack, in T1 the rear wheel goes into the rack, in T2 the bike must be racked with the front wheel to the designated rack.

30 Post-race Procedures “Mixed Zone” - immediately after finish 1, 2, 3 with host broadcaster first. Medal Presentation - protocol – at 12:15 No ambush marketing! Dress “up” Prize money by wire transfer to your bank account

31 Ambush Marketing Rules Ambush marketing is defined as: “Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.” The consequence for this behavior is: The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event

33 Post-race Procedures Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to have ready for Doping Control Medical Only team medical officials area allowed in this area in case there is an athlete from their team. Every NF can have 1 team medical upgade pass, but only for team doctors!

34 Coaches areas Accreditation Every coaches has to collect accreditation to be able to enter the venue. Only Coaches who have been registered from their NF into the ITU online system are entitle for accreditation Passes are given to NF according to the number of athletes entered. 1-3 athletes = 2 pass, 4-6 athletes = 3 passes, 7-9 athletes = 4 passes, 10-12 athletes = 5 passes
