1 Howard High School 15-16 Registration

2  Registration will take place on March 18th.  Students will meet with each of their teachers throughout the day to complete the registration process.  Courses will be selected by teacher. Teacher/Student conferences will take place on or before March 18 th.  If you finish a pathway or want to change a pathway, a teacher can make this notation.

4  Each student will need 4 academic core classes and 3 electives or additional core classes. Link to graduation verification sheet. Select the tab for your 9 th grade enter date. (For example, 2011 is for current Juniors, 2012 is sophomores, 2013 is freshmen)graduation verification sheet  Students planning to attend a 4 year college/university will need 2 years of the same modern language. (Some colleges prefer three years)  All students need to work towards a pathway. (3 courses in same pathway) See Pathway list with links to 4-year plan of study.Pathway list  HOPE Rigor Requirements- Students graduating 2016 must have 3 courses that meet the rigor requirement. 5  Pathways offered at Howard High School Pathways offered at Howard High School  Pathways offered at Hutching Career Center (transportation provided to and from HHS). Students will be able to complete a pathway in one year. Students will take the Four academic courses at Howard and go to the Career Center for the Pathway electives. Pathways offered at Hutching Career Center  Pathways offered at Central Georgia Technical College (Dual Enrollment) –Student is responsible for transportation Pathways offered at Central Georgia Technical College

6  There will be a representative here the week of March 23 rd to provide you with additional information regarding the application and other questions you may have.  Students interested in Hutchings will need to submit the form “Interested in Hutchings” with your registration form on March 17 th. Your 5 th block teacher will have these forms available.

8  Please talk with the your academic teacher for that area. (For example, you need an English class. Your English teacher could verify this.  If you have taken the course and failed it previously, then you would sign up for e2020(Edugenuity)

9  Talk with your counselor.  There are options such as Georgia Virtual School, Dual –Enrollment, etc.

10  Your course requests are based on passing all current classes.  If you are currently failing with a 40 or below, your teacher will recommend you take the course over.  If you fail a course this school year, please sign up for summer school.  If you fail more than one, you will need to talk to your counselor about credit recovery options.

12  Work Based Learning –To apply see Mr. Morgan Jarvis. Must be an 11 th or 12 th grader

13  There are multiple options for Dual Enrollment  1) Accel (Dual Enrollment at Middle Georgia State University or CGTC) for Academic classes- Must meet with your Counselor ASAP—Application required with SAT/ACT score requirements  2) Move on When Ready- (Dual Enrollment at a college full time) Must meet with your Counselor ASAP—Application required with SAT/ACT score requirements  3) Advanced Placement (AP) Courses are dual enrollment taught in a supportive high school environment.  You must set up a meeting with your counselor.

14  Dual Enrollment (academics)- Accel Program Dual Enrollment (academics)- Accel Program  Dual Enrollment (CTAE)-HOPE Grant Dual Enrollment (CTAE)-HOPE Grant  Complete application for either Middle Georgia State or Central GA Technical College  Meet with your Counselor

15  Accel (Academic Dual Enrollment)  Middle Georgia State College: must have  Have a minimum academic core high school grade point average of 3.0 to include all attempts in academic coursework as calculated by Middle Georgia State College for admission purposes.  Have a combined Critical Reading/Math SAT score of 970 or above with a minimum Critical Reading score of 430 and Math of 400, or an ACT minimum English score of 17, Math 17, and a composite score of 20.  Central Georgia Technical College: must have a 450 Critical Reading and 440 Math SAT score
