3 We currently use the schools for education We also could use them as: Centers for information and the application of children´s rights. (Children have the right to know their rights). Guaranteed implementation by those, directly involved in reducing child poverty. INFORMATION CENTERS FOR CHILDREN´S RIGHTS We could use schools for education, as they do, as well as use them as Centers for information about children´s rights, with guaranteed application of those directly involved in reducing poverty

8 Involving children HERE ARE GABRIELA AND DIEGO ENDORSING ART. 12 OF THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD, IN THEIR SPEECH WRITTEN AND READ BY THEM DURING THE COMMEMORATION OF THE UNCRC 20th ANNIVERSARY. THEIR PARENTS SUPPORTED THEM AND EXPLAINED THEIR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES. EVENT ORGANIZED BY THE «FUNDACIÓN MONTESSORI SIN FRONTERAS» AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT SITE IN MADRID – 20 NOVEMBER - 2009

9 FUNDACION MONTESSORI´S PLAN FOR REDUCING CHILDREN´S POVERTY 1= City Council monitors the local situation of children through its Social Services, identifying their problems and assessing results: a) Developing programmes, by using previously agreed Indicators in a social and inclusive educational framework. b) National working groups develop these Indicators ( Authorities and NGO´S ). c) EU Member States agree common Indicators in a Forum, to be really implemented. 2 = The Council upgrades the structure of local schools, providing for the refurbishment of facilities, as needed. It also provides for various teams of workers, logistics, food and budgets: a) Setting up kitchens, dining rooms, infirmaries for school nurses, and for leisure and sports facilities. b) Giving all children healthy meals and involving them with food related activities c) The Council and Social Services monitor families wih special needs, by adding suplementary food as required and overseeing the care of children at home.
