State funding primarily supports instruction and key academic operations. The academic core depends heavily on these state dollars. The College of Arts & Sciences relies on state funding for 79% of its operating budget. College faculty teach 86% of the University’s total undergraduate hours. About 97% of the university’s total state budget supports personnel (60% for tenured and tenure-track faculty).
