2 An Overview Survey developed February-March with help from Mackenzie Bristow and David Hirsch Worked with David Hirsch to create e-lists Promoted on Adult Ed SIG Page and in “Dialogue” Survey conducted from March 17 – April 22, 2010 Adult Ed SIG members (primary and secondary) sent email invitation with survey link Significant response = 23.7% SIG Membership = 215; Response N = 51

10 New York State Education Department: Adult Education and Workforce Development Team Fiscal Year 2008 Annual Performance Report for New York State: www.emsc.nysed.gov/aewdwww.emsc.nysed.gov/aewd Data for comparison purposes with our SIG membership In New York State: 75% of teachers work part-time Responses to survey: 69% are employed part-time In New York State: There are 189 program sites for delivery of adult education; 15 in colleges and 29 are CBO’s. Responses to survey: 51% in college-based programs; 35% in CBO’s.

11 Key Points from the Survey Salons, E-List and Newsletter top the “Wish List” Preferences for Salon topics: pronunciation, reading writing, and grammar in that order Salons to be facilitated by members and guests 96% of SIG respondents want Teaching Strategy Ideas/Articles on the SIG page There are a host of wonderful members offering their volunteer services!
