What are Risk Assessments? b A careful examination of what, in your work, could cause harm to people. b The aim is to make sure no one gets hurt or becomes ill.

Who’s responsibility are they? Everybody’s Mainly management

Why do we have to do them? b So that no one is hurt or becomes ill. b Legal requirement. (Man. Reg 3) b Contract documentation. b Part of safety culture b Increase’s awareness. b Reduce claims b Increase morale

What risks should be assessed? Ignore the trivial and concentrate on significant hazards

What is a HAZARD? Anything with the potential to cause harm.

What is a risk? The likelihood of the harm being realised.
