The story of Bhavik Shah - a final year MBBS student “I study in a premier medical college in India. At the undergraduate level there is no exposure to research. In my second year I attended a lecture on Literature Searching by QMed at an undergraduate student conference. I realized that I had hardly knew anything about this! A year later, I referred to these literature search notes for submitting manuscripts to a medical journal. After a few revisions my manuscript was accepted for publication"! QMed’s Impact Story Thank you QMed - directly from the left ventricle of my heart :) You have no idea how grateful I am for the workshop at Medicon! Bhavik Shah

Challenges in Raising Funds for QMed People wonder… Why do we need to teach people to ‘search’! Why do we need to be a non-profit? Our audience is not poor enough to be unable to pay Why do we need to charge to teach.
14
Challenges in Raising Funds for QMed The Indian health education scenario No ‘priority’ for the importance of literature searching No ‘budgets’ for training in literature searching Target audience used to paying low costs for training workshops – cannot (or will not) pay ‘real costs’
15
We Visualize…. 1.Literature searching and referencing training to be part of the medical education curriculum 2.Trained professionals in every teaching institution to teach and support students and professionals in good literature search and referencing practices 3.Every health care institution providing access to important, evidence based resources to its students and faculty 4.Institutions sharing resources, with effective technology usage, and adhering to good copyright practices AND – We Need FUNDS! Thank you for Funding us!!
