Why does God ask them to build a sanctuary? Why does God use human agents? Does God want to dwell outside of the Temple in Jerusalem? What do we have to offer?
3
25:1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. 3 And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats' hair, 5 tanned rams' skins, goatskins, acacia wood, 6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. 9 Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.
4
Why does God ask them to make Him a sanctuary? Exd. 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. מִקְדָּשׁ Sanctuary sacred place, sanctuary, holy place שָׁכַן Dwell to settle down, abide, dwell, tabernacle, reside עָשָׂה Let them make to do, fashion, accomplish, make, work Nehemiah 3,4
5
They had a mind to work (Nehemiah 4:6). They had a vision They had leadership They had naysayers They protected one another They accomplished the “impossible”
6
The number 50 in our portion: “you shall make” – 41x “you shall cast” – 2x “you shall hang” – 2x “you shall overlay”- 5x Totals = 50 50 loops for curtains 50 clasps The inner sanctuary is 100 cubits in length (50 x 2) The inner sanctuary width is 50 cubits
7
Is it that God can’t do it Himself? [Psa 127:1 KJV] 1 [[A Song of degrees for Solomon.]] Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain. [Mar 16:20 KJV] 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with [them], and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

God takes delight in delegating & watching results. “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” Jack Welch [Luk 19:12-13 KJV] 12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. 13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. [Mat 21:33 ESV] 33 "Hear another parable. There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went into another country.
9
What has YHVH delegated to us? His Word- [Rom 10:14 KJV] 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Authority- 2 Corinth. 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ… Power- [Act 1:8 KJV] 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you… Ministry- [2Co 5:18 KJV] 18 And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Yeshua Messiah, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; Gifts- [1Co 12:11 ESV] 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. Judgment- [1Co 6:3 ESV] 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!
10
Why didn’t YHVH wait until they entered Canaan to give instructions to build a sanctuary? We are in the wilderness of the nations in a journey to the promised land (NJ). Does God want us to build a “temporary sanctuary” on the way? Are we in the New Jerusalem yet? Is there a temple built? Are we burying the talents/money/resources until He returns or until the Temple is built?
11
Are we burying our talents/money/resources? [Mat 25:14-18, 21, 28-29 ESV] 14 "For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.... 21 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.'... 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
12
Gold, silver & bronze: 25:1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. 3 And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, [Exo 36:6 KJV] 6 And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. What happened?

Anointing oil: Exd25:6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil… [Psa 133:1-3 ESV] 1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the LORD has commanded the blessing, life forevermore. [Act 14:19-20 ESV] 19 But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. 20 But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city…
14
Incense: Exd25:6b … and for the fragrant incense. [Psa 141:2 ESV] 2 Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! [Rev 8:4 ESV] 4 and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God… [Jas 5:14-16 ESV] 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
15
Stones in the Breastplate: Exd. 25:7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. [Exo 28:15 ESV] 15 "You shall make a breastpiece of judgment, in skilled work… [Mat 18:18-20 ESV] 18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.“ [Mat 7:1-2 ESV] 1 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.
16
Skilled Workers: [Exo 35:35 KJV] 35 Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, [even] of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work. [1Ch 25:7 ESV] 7 The number of them along with their brothers, who were trained in singing to the LORD, all who were skillful, was 288. [Psa 33:3 ESV] 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
17
A willing heart: Exd. 25:1b From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. What was the first article of the tabernacle to be made? The Ark of the Covenant= Heart [Mat 6:21 ESV] 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Exd. 35:21-29
