2 Global Network of Women’s Shelters (GNWS) www.gnws.org International network of shelter programs to unite and strengthen the global shelter movement Founded in 2009 after the 1 st World Conference of Women’s Shelters in Edmonton, Canada GNWS Vision: An equal world where women and their children live free from violence. GNWS Purpose: To unite the women’s shelter movement globally to make change to end violence against women and their children.

4 2 nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters Connect * Learn * Share NNEDV was selected by GNWS to host the conference February 27 – March 1, 2012 in Washington, DC Anticipating up to 2500 delegates from over 75 countries will attend Building on the amazing success of the 1 st World Shelter Conference Sept 8-11, 2008 in Edmonton hosted by ACWS

5 Peer-to-peer conference, specifically for advocates who work directly with survivors and the organizations that support their efforts Expand international communities of advocates, share promising and proven practices, and help to support the establishment of local, national, & regional networks that can learn from and support each other. 2 nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters Connect * Learn * Share
