1. Theme: The role of women in integration and their meaningful participation in leadership at all levels so as to achieve sustainable development.

2. INTRODUCTION The deliberations were inspired by Zinduka festival 2013 whereby members suggested that in the spirit of integration, we should have the East Africa Women Leadership Institute as umbrella organization in the region that would empower women in many areas.

3. EAST AFRICA LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE JUSTIFICATION This is a mean by which we could further the integration process. The institute is a place for knowledge and info exchange. 1. Members felt that women have been oppressed and discriminated upon on various areas and that there was need for East African Women to have a voice. It was noted that in many of our countries, bad culture, breach of women's rights and discrimination of women in leadership was a reality. In legislation, trade, leadership and social places.

4. THEMATIC AREAS OF EAWLI We then developed various thematic areas that would be of interest in integration of women in East Africa. 1. Women and transformational leadership 2. Women and Trade 3. Women rights 4. Women Intergration

5. Form We decided that the institute needs to be both Academic and Practical. The institute should be built with special focus on quality, results and measurable impact on Women.

8. IMPLEMENTATION The institute will use the following approaches to achieve its objectives; 1. Community outreach program 2. Having a physical resource location in colaboration with stakeholders 3. Online Platform

9. ACTION POINTS We discovered that we had very important stakeholders present at the meeting and together with the 2013 team, we agreed to form a board and start working on the institute. Attending the meeting were stakeholder representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi who all agreed to be part of the board.

11. CURRENT ACTIONS The board was formed The Face book and Twitter pages will be ongoing Working groups within a short time to start working on making the institute functional.

12. ONE YEAR VISION By next year we hope to have established the institute and have some activity going on within the thematic areas. We hope to be a brand on the East African scope that will be associated with all round Women empowerment.
