4. Simple Sentence Simple sentences have one independent clause
Can have a compound verb
Examples:

5. Compound Sentence
Compound sentences are made up of two simple sentences connected by a coordinating conjunction.
These conjunctions are also known as FANBOYS:
F - For A - And N - Nor B - But O - Or Y - Yet S - So

13. Complex Sentence
Complex sentences are often formed by putting these words at the beginning of the dependent clause: as, as if, before, after, because, though, even though, while, when, whenever, if, during, as soon as, as long as, since, until, unless, where, and wherever. These words are called subordinating conjunctions.

14. A complex sentence is made from an independent clause and a dependent clause joined together.
Example:
After I came home, I made dinner.
(dependent clause: "After I came home")

Independent Clause: Our friend didn’t want to go.
Dependent clause: who doesn’t like scary movies
