MY TRIP TO NEW YORK

DAY 1 Arrival in New York at 13:00. That day we’ll have jet lag. The Big Apple is six hours behind Spain. We plan to have a walk around the streets near the hotel (in the Theater District ): Madison Avenue, the Fifth Avenue and Times Square. We’ll have a look at Grand Central Terminal, the most impressive railway station in N.Y. I want to go up the Empire State building before it gets dark and wait until the city gets full of light.

New York from the Empire State

Some Empire State Building Visitor Tips Save Time: Buy Your Tickets Online Consider the Weather: don’t go on a cloudy day. Best time your visit during sunset, where you can watch the sunlight fade and the city's glowing. Plan at least 2 hours for your visit to the Empire State Building: do some reading or work on a crossword puzzle, since there is not much to see while you wait in line.

DAY 2 We want to go to Harlem to listen to the choir sing Gospel in their church. Then we’ll visit the cathedral Saint John the Divine and then go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of N. Y.’s most popular attractions. Do you know it’s the largest museum in the Western Hemisphere? We’ll finally have a look at the Lincoln Center and later will definitely have a rest in Central Park. Sightseeing is exhausting, especially when it’s so hot. We’ll go rollerblading in the evening.

Traveler reviews on the Metropolitan Museum of Art Fantastic museum, definitely too much to see in one day. Only negative is the high price of food in the cafe. Don't get hungry here. $8.50 for a small slice of pizza is just too much. Just remember that it's closed on Mondays! Your best strategy is to arrive at the 9:30 a.m opening -- the crowds really get going by midday. The current Egyptian exhibition is a must-see.

Things you can do in Central Park Take a boat ride in the Lake. Rent a bike or rollerblades. Attend a concert. See a play by Shakesperare. Visit the zoo. And relax!

DAY 3 We’ll take a ferry to have a view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. This is what thousands of immigrants saw when they came to the U.S., looking for a dream. We’ll have a walk in South Street Port, which has many restaurants and shops on the water and beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge. We’ll walk to the other side of the bridge to get a view of New York’s skyline. Teresa told me not to miss that. She says it is like in films. In the evening we’ll go to Ground Zero (where the Twin Towers used to be). Then we’ll visit Wall Street, Chinatown, Little Italy, SoHo and Greenwich Village.

Statue of Liberty visitor tips For the Statue of Liberty alone, it will take about 2-3 hours if you attend a tour. Arrive at the ferry 2 hours prior to your tour. Plan to visit the Statue of Liberty during the week if possible and catch the first ferry of the day to avoid unnecessary waiting.

DAYS 4 to 8 We’ll go on a tour by coach to visit the Niagara Falls in Toronto (about 600 km from N.Y.!) and take a boat ride there. The tour will also take us to Washington D.C., the capital of the U.S. And Philadelphia. We won’t have to plan anything here because the tour guide will take us everywhere and we won’t have much free time for ourselves. A package tour holiday is nice if it’s not too long since you meet new people from different parts of your country, can make new friends and you don’t have to read the guide all the time. There’s an expert who explains everything.

The Liberty Bell of Philadelphia "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof - Lev. XXV, v. x. By order of the Assembly of the Province of Pensylvania [sic] for the State House in Philada." Liberty Bell Inscription

DAY 9 We’ll have a look at the Art Deco of Chrysler Building, then will visit the Rockefeller Center, where you can see the city’s Christmas Tree in December and ice skate in the rink. Then we’ll head for the United Nations Building, though I don’t think we’ll get in there. After that we’ll move on to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and will finally get into the American museum of National History In the evening we’ll go to the theater in Broadway. It starts at 20:00

DAY 10 We haven’t decided what to do yet. That depends on the places we have actually visited in the previous days. We should do some shopping for our family and us. My child wants a basket T-shirt of the Nets. I don’t know what I’ll buy for me or my parents, but I’m sure I’ll often have to stop myself from spending so much money.

Back home! Our planes leaves to Barcelona at 17: 40, so we’ll have time in the morning to do some more visits and shopping in New York.
