Facts about Norway The capital city is Oslo. The country’s name come from the Viking word meaning “Northern Way”. It is a Constitutional Monarchy. The widest point is 200 miles across. The narrowest is just 40 miles across. Most Norwegians live within 10 miles of the sea. It is known for its fjords. It is called the Land of the Midnight Sun. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Norway’s capital Oslo. The paper clip and the cheese slicer were both invented in Norway.
