Achievement Standards Reporting using A – E grades or word equivalents All schools in Australia, are required to:  provide two written reports per year to learners and parents/carers, reporting on all learning areas(once in the first half of the year and again at the end of the year)  write reports using plain language that is clear and easy to understand  provide reports that are based on 5 achievement levels (A – E grades or the word equivalents).

B Your child is demonstrating GOOD achievement of what is expected at this year level. C Your child is demonstrating SATISFCTORY achievement of what is expected at this year level. D Your child is demonstrating PARTIAL achievement of what is expected at this year level. E Your child is demonstrating MINIMAL achievement of what is expected at this year level.

Achievement Standards  Achievement Standards describe what a student should be able to know, do and understand at the end of a year.  There are 4 categories teachers have to use to determine a grade.  Some Learning Areas have achievement standards over a two year band.  Consistency across a site/s work.

7. Yr 4 HISTORY Achievement Standard  By the end of Year 4, students explain how and why life changed in the past, and identify aspects of the past that remained the same. They describe the experiences of an individual or group over time. They recognise the significance of events in bringing about change.explainidentifydescribe recognise  Students sequence events and people (their lifetime) in chronological order to identify key dates. They pose a range of questions about the past. They identify sources (written, physical, visual, oral), and locate information to answer these questions. They recognise different points of view.
