Intelli-WAVE: Microwave Protection System
Volumetric, line-of-sight perimeter intrusion detection system - X-band radar Dielectric Resonant Oscillator for greater frequency stability over temperature range Adjacent channel rejection - six field selectable channels with greater than 60 dB. rejection between Preamplifier for higher fade margins & greater applications Field adjustable - phase lock loop (PLL) signal processing with user adjusted sensitivity for optimum detection

Intelli-WAVE Microwave Protection System
Range from 3 to 183 m Tamperproof - completely enclosed in rugged all-metal housing with integral rain shield Audible side-tone - output proportional to radar target velocity & cross section for alarm assessment and troubleshooting Easy installation - transmitter and receiver install on posts Low current operation - less than 75 mA/12 VDC Built-in lightning suppression on all inputs and outputs

Intelli-WAVE: Microwave Protection System
Polarization diversity: rotatable antenna arrays Remote self test input Self-supervising transmitter option (power only) Built-in LED bar graph for alignment Optional multiplex communications Rear access to electronics without disturbing the alignment FCC certified Trouble free reliable operation - 15 year MTBF Receiver Modular Components
5
Where to use Microwave Sensors
Open outdoor storage areas Sallyports in Correctional applications High security areas with dual fences Trucking companies Gas and Oil storage sites Nuclear power generating sites Nuclear fuel storage sites Power utility substations Roof top applications for traps
6
Microwave Protection System: Do and Don’t List
Do use in clear areas where you have clean line of sight - Detection zone should be long and flat Don’t use in areas where line of sight will be blocked, such as; parking areas, near fixed objects in beam (out buildings, guard shacks), power or light poles in direct center of beam Do use in areas where ground is smooth Don’t use over drainage ditches, ungraded areas where there is more than 6 inches change in terrain over the length of the zone
7
Microwave Protection System: Do and Don’t List
Do use in area which is free of extraneous motion Don’t use in area with trees or shrubs in or near detection zone. Vegetation within detection zone will cause nuisance alarms. Don’t use near large areas of water, such as: ponds, streams, drainage ditches, property run off areas. Do use in area that is fenced Don’t use in unfenced areas because of problems with animal-caused nuisance alarms
8
Microwave Protection System: Do and Don’t List
Do mount Microwave link zone at least 15 feet in from the fence line Don’t mount the Microwave link too close to the fence as it will make it easy to jump over the beam and fence movement can cause alarms Do keep links out of traffic areas and provide protective devices to prevent damage Don’t mount links near fence gates that can swing into the heads
9
Microwave Protection System: Ground Cover
Crushed rock is best ground surface to deploy microwave links over Crushed rock allows proper drainage of rainwater and prevents puddling If in snow area, pavement is most suitable surface. Pavement allows snow to be removed easily. Snow build-up can cause changes in microwave pattern and nuisance alarms Well-mown grass (3 inches or less), asphalt, concrete, hard packed soil, are good for medium and low security sites.
10
Microwave Zones: Type of Security
High Security Zone Detection of intruder stomach-crawling parallel to and through the beam Medium Security Zone Detection of intruder crawling on hands and knees through the beam. Low Security Zone Beam-break alarm only Detection of a walking intruder, vehicles, etc.
11
Microwave Protection System: High Security Zones
Transmitter/Receiver separation distance no greater than 328 feet (100 meters) Terrain must be level to grade, ±3 inches (7.6cm) Terrain finished with crushed rock (1 inch max.) to a depth of 4 inches or paved zone completely void of vegetation Transmitter/Receiver units mounted 24 inches beam centerline (center of antenna) to ground
12
Microwave Protection System: Site Design
Start by making detailed sight drawing Show all dimensions, including terrain variations, drainage ditches, types of pavement, etc. Zone placement must provide clear line-of-sight between transmitter and receiver Zone length will depend on degree of security required. High security zones may not be over 100 m Medium Security zones may not be over 150 m Low security zones may be up to 183 m Trees, buildings in area may require shorter zones
13
Microwave Protection System: Site Design
Offsets Microwave energy starts as a very narrow beam (6 inches wide) Area immediately below and in front of transmitter and receiver are not protected To compensate for this each zone must be installed to provide protection to its adjacent zone Following charts depict proper offset placement based on a mounting height of 76 cm (30 in.) above ground (High Security Site)
