3 Terms of Reference Advice on acceptability of terminological resources proposed for use Maintain relationship with external terminology providers (e.g.. IHTSDO) Develop and maintain procedures for external terminology use in HL7

4 Steps for Work Groups Choose a terminology to suit purpose – Is content available? IF YES – USE IT IF NO (and you know the system you need e.g. SNOMED CT) request content from – IF NATIONAL – National Release Centre – IF THAT OPTION UNAVAILABLE – HL7 Terminology Authority OTHERWISE OR NOT SURE – Seek help from HL7 Terminology Authority

5 Getting Help! 1.Vocabulary Facilitators – Do you have / need one? – Additional training being developed /offered – Route to assistance from Vocabulary WG members 2.Contact HL7 Terminology Authority (HTA) - EARLY – Help with determining which terminology to use – Request modifications/additions to SNOMED CT – Processes for other terminologies will come later. – HTA Wiki – for general advice and guidance – Contact by emailing HTA@HL7.org
