"Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise" An initiative to improve systems implementation & integration Main goal: “Connectivity and Interoperability” Main standards used: DICOM - imaging HL7 - clinical communication IHE does not develop standards, it uses established standards! IHE works with standards development organisations (SDOs) IHE demonstrates solutions IHE works towards adoption, assisting by providing documentation, tools, testing and publication

Interoperability Showcase at MedInfo 2007 (Brisbane) July 2008: 1st Australian IHE Connectathon (Canberra) Aug. 2008: 4th Australian Interoperability Showcase (at HIC '08 Melb.)
