6
PODS v4 File Characteristics >Daily Files >Generated each day >Sunday-Saturday vs. Monday-Friday >Revisions made since previous day >Must be processed everyday – will not be able to skip >Library Files >Generated once per week and available on Saturday >File Naming >Daily files - DF-YYYYMMDD- -.xml >Library Files – LF-YYYYMMDD- -.xml

PODS v4 Hierarchy Mapping Program/Rights Package Schedule Series Episode Version Schedule What was formerly Will soon be
9
PODS v4 Key Enhancements >TiVo Keywords >Detailed Package Element Information (Segment) >Detailed Rights Information >SD >HD, if applicable >Frame accurate time code >New programs >Provided by Producer >Validated during ingest/screening >Legacy programs >SOM, EOM, Duration during ingest
10
PODS v4 Key Enhancements >Aspect Ratio >Usage Dates within Rights >Package Level >Detailed Screening Information >Segments >Flags >Bugs, Cues, etc…
11
PODS v4 Publication >Control the release of data >Publication statuses will be used to drive process >Two paths for publication >Program Management >Program Scheduling
12
PODS v4 Publication – Program Management >PBS Programs >Approval of Program Acceptance Agreement (PAA) via Orion >“Publish” status assigned to associated Programs and Packages >Should coincide with the Program Offer >Other National Distributors (APT, KNME, NETA, etc…) >“Create Program” process via Orion >Will have the control over setting the status to “Publish”

Program Offer Data Service (PODS) v4 Tracy Carter, Myers Information Systems
15
ProTrack & PODS 4.0 >PODS files processed daily at Myers >Additional information & checking added >Distributed to stations via ProLink >Smoother transition
16
ProTrack Update >Timed to coincide with PODS 4.0 launch >New metadata fields >Use package numbers for tracking PBS programs >Replace version subscripts with package types >Keep the subscripts for those who have used them
17
Implications of Change >NOLA Based media IDs >Alternatives >Package ID & Revision Number >ISAN >Internal systems (numeric or mix)
18
Implications of Change >Frame accurate timings available in feed schedule >More & Better metadata >Opportunities >Timings improve logo placement, DDE moves etc. >Audio & Captioning accuracy needed for operations as well as PSIP >Requires consistent, accurate information

Program Offer Data Service (PODS) v4 Susan Farrington, Scout Information Systems
20
Key Concepts >Overriding goal is to make as seamless as possible >Change visible in files selected for download from PODS >A new set of files in a new format will be available each day (Sunday – Saturday) >Contains changes from the previous days files >Mandatory to download and process files each day >Daily processing of files in the correct order is crucial >Internal checks for file sequence numbers to ensure correct order >Library files will be available but should not be needed if files are processed daily >Scheduling information will still be available >Sourced from PODS V4.0 instead of NOLA files >Accessed in same manner in ProgramsPlus! application >User interface for importing PODS V4.0 data does not change >Import routine will distinguish version and translate XML files into Programs Plus! Database >User interface for updating Programs Plus! does not change
22
Roll-out >Changes to the Programs Plus! application and database will be installed at your site. >Requirement to be on Progress v9.0 or higher. >Version of PODS is identified based on the file layout allowing simultaneous support of v4.0 and v2.0. >Installation of changes can begin at your site as soon as testing and data conversion is complete. >Will continue with communications on timing of roll-out and installation.

Program Offer Data Service (PODS) v4 >In general, information will be available sooner >Information should be more consistent now that there is only one system to maintain it in >Usage of XML will allow for easier and more incremental changes to structure to include new information Michael Atkin, BroadView Software Inc.
25
Program Offer Data Service (PODS) v4 >As producers grasp the new PBS system and begin submitting content in the “new” way, the volume of packages and updates (especially to Package usage dates) will increase substantially >Package details, elements will also increase >Package ID, including revision code is extremely important to track and follow: P123456-1 Michael Atkin, BroadView Software Inc.
