Lync - FAQ Most customers have “free IM&P from Microsoft this comes with the “Standard” CAL (client access lic), this is why lots of customers think Lync is “free” Lync Enterprise Voice requires “Enterprise and Plus CAL’s costing US$123 each ie. US$246 The UCA Client DOES NOT require the additional CAL’s to function, ie the customer integrating Avaya and Lync saves US$246 per user Make “great” IM & Presence from Microsoft “brilliant” with Avaya and the UCA. All of the desktop ease of Lync with the power, features and resilience of Avaya Avaya has it’s own free client that requires Aura 6.2 Avaya client “turns off” (in standard install mode) key Lync features that customers want. What the UCA client does as standard is allow these features whilst still having the choice to use Avaya’s award winning UC features, and the World’s most popular contact centre products such as Avaya CMS. In summary the UCA client with Avaya and Microsoft make a class winning solution. 4
