3. Creating Creating stories through:  Personal experience  Stimulus e.g. a pebble  Linked to a class book e.g. Bob, the Man on the Moon  Story cards  Role play and drama

4. Planning Planning writing through:  Story mountain  Story maps  Storyboards  Spider diagrams

5. ABC We try to tell children that planning to write is as easy as ABC. Write key words about the following: Appearance- what things look like Behaviour- how things act or make you feel Comment- write about what you think

6. Writing When the children come to write we will have introduced:  Sentence structure  Use of connectives  Basic punctuation  WOW words  Expanding key facts into Super Sentences As the year progresses we expand upon these themes according to the children’s abilities.

7. Writing We have been encouraging the children to use the skills we have discussed and when writing to put on their Writing CAPs. The children remember to include: Connectives Adjectives Punctuation All of which can be differentiated.

8. Editing We also believe it is important for the children to review and edit their work. This can be done by:  Reading their work to themselves.  Reading out loud to each other.  Creating a purpose for writing – display, topic books, writing for another class
