3 English Department Oralcy Programmes 6-year oralcy plan P1 Speech & Drama oral programme P2 Drama for Life oral programme P3 – Readers’ Theatre (incorporate with TenW2 & Project Work in Semester 1) P4 – Puppet Show (incorporate with Family Under the Bridge & JEWEL) P5 – A Short Skit (adapted from Prince & the Pauper) P6 – P6 Oral Package & Oral Practices Speak Good English Movement Week in July – P1 to P5 Storytelling competitions, Class & Level competitions TDP – P5 Debates & P4 Media (Print & Broadcast)

4 P1 & P2 Oral Programme Objectives: stimulate pupils’ imagination and creativity build pupils’ self-esteem and poise develop personal and interpersonal skills learn how to communicate effectively be confident to speak in public

5 Outcomes of the Oral Programmes Pupils to be more expressive and confident in Spoken English Pupils to pick up the following skills: Drama SkillsEnglish SkillsLife Skills Body Language Mime & Role Play Improvisation Voice Skills Characterisation Articulation Storytelling Dramatic Reading Pronunciation Vocabulary Critical Thinking Poise & Confidence Self-Esteem Teamwork Presentation

6 Details of P1 Speech & Drama oral programme Duration: 15 lessons,1hr per lesson Day: Tuesdays (from Tues, 23 March 2010 to Tues, 17 August 2010) Time: 11.00 am – 12.00 pm Course Fee per pupil: $ 57.00 (School pays $17.00, Pupil pays $40.00) Course Expectation: Pupils have to attend 80% of the classes to enjoy the full subsidy. NB: Pupils not eligible for Edusave must pay $ 40.00 cash/cheque

7 Details of P2 Drama for Life Oral Programme Duration: 10 lessons,11/2hr per lesson Day: Tuesdays (from Tues, 26 January 2010 to Tues, 20 April 2010) Time: 2.00 pm – 3.30 pm Course Fee per pupil: $ 60.00 (School pays $18.00, Pupil pays $42.00) Course Expectation: Pupils have to attend 80% of the classes to enjoy the full subsidy. NB: Pupils not eligible for Edusave must pay $ 42.00 cash/cheque

8 Performances On the last lesson, pupils will put a performance and parent will be cordially invited for the event. Time and Venue to be confirmed on a later date.
