3 Oracle Enterprise Architecture Initiative
Oracle Enterprise Architecture (OEA) provides the level of deliverable content required to execute on strategic objective in an architecturally consistent manner. Oracle Enterprise Architects (OEAs) are thought and strategy leaders in the field of Enterprise Architecture (EA) with a breadth and depth of experience across business (industries) and information technology (IT) OEAs… Are assigned to key customer accounts in order to provide value-added services driven by the Oracle Enterprise Architecture Framework (OEAF) and the Oracle Architecture Development Process (OADP) Stay engaged throughout the lifecycle of the customer relationship Link business principles, strategies and initiatives to executable IT solutions

4 Oracle Enterprise Architecture Framework (OEAF)
OEAF utilizes best practices and methodologies through… Oracle Reference Models (ORM) Oracle Practitioner Guides (OPG) Resulting in reduced execution time of Architecture Driven Solutions

5 Oracle Architecture Development Process (OADP)
Iterative Agile Approach Aligns with customer and industry standard EA frameworks Reuses best practice business models and reference architectures Practical Approach, Proven Methodology Provides Governance

6 The Realities of Today’s Data Center...
Instantly Available Services Wherever They Are Accelerating Customer Expectations Explosion of Data Volume and Types Transaction Overload Accelerating Information Growth Unpredictability and Rapid Change Accelerating Business Complexity Ecosystem Interdependency When we look at the macro trends in the industry, there are some pretty exciting – and daunting things going on. IT is becoming more and more interwoven with every business. Mobile devices plays a big part in this of course – we want and need access to our services around the clock and wherever we are. These mobile devices along with increasing regulatory and compliance requirements generates a tremendous about of data – both structured data living in databases and unstructured data with , social media and digital documents. And while there has been some contraction with the global recession, we’re still seeing increasing demands on IT systems and massive amounts of transactions. All of this is happening very fast and somewhat unpredictably. Everything from geo political dynamics, new regulations like we see in financial services or in health care, and even things like climate changes and thing like these super storms can all have an impact depending on your industry. Companies who can be agile enough to meet these changes in a cost=effective way are seeing a competitive advantage. But a lot of our IT systems have been growing to meet these changes in a very haphazard way. Lots of vendors with point solutions and we end up with a lot of legacy systems and interdependencies across the eco system.

7 … Can Lead to Missed Opportunities
WHAT IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE MIX? 63% 50% 21% 25% 16% 25% Slide Transition: Evidence of I.T. complexity can show up in how much companies spend on maintaining what they have instead of adding new capabilities. In 2012, 63% of IT spending at the average company went to the day-to-day operations of the business; 21% to the organic growth of the business and 16% to support major business transformation, new products, services or business models.* In fact, many would argue that spending 37 percent of IT on growing and transforming the business is quite good. But, what if you could change the mix? Even a modest shift in IT spending toward growing or transforming the business could help businesses compete better in a complex marketplace. 11 Engineered Systems: Scale With Your Business
Quarter Rack Half Rack Full Rack Multi-rack Customer’s don't have to deploy a Full Rack, or only one rack Field upgrade to go from Quarter Rack to Half Rack or from Half Rack to Full Rack We have designed the networking so that you can scale to 8 Full Racks interconnected with no external switches. You can scale to more racks with external InfiniBand switches, and can scale to 100’s of Full Racks Even when we reach 100’s of racks, every process is equidistant from every other process No performance degradation with additional nodes, even 100’s of racks Built for elastic cloud, grid and scale-out Seamless hardware upgrade Flexible software licensing 11

12 A New Model in IT Support
Oracle Platinum Services Monitored for You Updated for You Extreme Value for You Oracle Premier Support Integrated Proactive Efficient Traditional IT Support Traditional IT support, as we just looked at on the last slide, is fragmented which can be costly when you finally get all of the individual features that you need; and it’s typically a reactive support model – fix it when it breaks. Plus, this model involves supporting multiple vendors’ software and hardware, which adds complexity and can be challenging when a problem arises. With Oracle Premier Support, we took a more complete and integrated approach to support that provides fast and efficient support to resolve issues, along with a host of proactive services to avoid issues and optimize performance. There’s only one vendor to deal with and we built all of the components in the stack, simplifying the resolution process. And now, we’ve created a new paradigm in IT support that bridges the gap between traditional IT support and fully-managed services. It’s called Oracle Platinum Services…and it provides customers who adopt the Oracle “engineered to work together” value proposition the power to access valuable services, such as remote monitoring, faster response times and quarterly patch deployment without paying anything extra. Sound intriguing? Let me tell you more… Fragmented Reactive Costly

15 Oracle Exadata Database Machine
Extreme performance for data warehouse, OLTP and mixed workloads Benefits 10x Faster Database 10x More Efficient Storage Lower operations and capital costs End-to-End Resource Management Most Available and Secure Unique Features Exadata Intelligent Storage Grid Exadata Hybrid Columnar Compression Exadata Smart Cache Flash Exadata is the best system to run the Oracle DB and it saves you money on storage. Automatically manages flash to provide the performance of flash with the cost per Terabyte of disk. Frequently accessed data is automatically migrated into flash by Exadata’s smart flash cache algorithms. DB processing directly into the storage subsystem so that for query workloads only a fraction of the data needs to be returned to the DB server Scale-out InfiniBand based architecture to provide the best scalability in the industry. Hybrid columnar compression that achieves 10x data compression without reducing performance. Consolidation is the best approach to reducing IT cost. Consolidation is typically limited by the available server memory. Exadata has the unique ability to run any workload with extreme performance including large parallel queries and small OLTP transactions. Since consolidation inherently mixes many different workloads into a single system it is an ideal match for Exadata. Exadata is the first database machine to be able to run a fully encrypted database with near zero performance overhead. DB2, Teradata, and Netezza do not have built in encryption capabilities

18 Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud
The Logical Choice for Business Applications and Middleware Benefits Extreme performance, reliability & scalability for apps & middleware 6X faster application provisioning Reduced risk and IT investment protection Lower TCO via integrated apps-to-disk management Unique Features Exabus high-performance communications backplane Exalogic has surpassed Exadata as the fastest growing product in Oracle’s history. Since general availability we have sold more units to more customers than we did over the same period of time with Exadata. The drivers of the success of this product are: Java Performance Java is an essential technology to Oracle and almost all of our customers. There was a real focus on what we could do for Java and there was a lot of opportunity: Java is well known for being sophisticated to tune, and performance was something we could optimize Mission Critical Cloud Real end to end standardization, consolidation and ultimately CLOUD – IT as a service This isn’t something that just works for small enterprise applications. The real business value is when it can be deployed across the enterprise, which means you need an infrastructure that can support the most mission critical applications Engineered System We focused on the benefits of what can be delivered out of the box while carefully balancing the requirement to not take too much control from customers We have a long standing commitment to best of breed components, and our business is likely not going to move away from selling those components We focused on the best standalone components that our customers would use to build their own systems and used those same components to build this new engineered system that we can deliver out of the box, pre-integrated and ready to run. These were our design goals, and we achieved them! We are very pleased with what we have done accomplished with this product.
