“Standard poll” messages built into DMR and SureLinx for ease of use 8 bytes contain basic position, I/O, status 1 byte Destination Address can be used for message routing Adds flexibility – e.g. emergency messages processed by different server vs normal 1 byte Message Descriptor Improves application efficiency – message labels distinguish events Increases security – indicates if message generated by DMR or external device “Custom poll” messages can be defined by customer Use up to 9 bytes (including Destination Address) Transparent messages generated by external controller Can use full 10 or 25 bytes payload Mobile applications can only use 25 bytes between +/- 50 latitude Fixed applications “point” the antenna to use 25 bytes anywhere © 2007 SkyWave Mobile Communications Inc.

8 Latency Latency is seen in two cases:
Poll/response: Control station sends a message to-terminal and gets a reply From-terminal: Terminal or external controller generates & sends message Normal operation and wakeup operation are different IsatM2M enhancements relative to D+: 4x faster frame-rate (30s instead of 2 minutes) Terminals do not need to return to Bulletin Board in most cases (saves up to 4 minutes on wakeup) Latency D+ IsatM2M Poll/response ~ 6 min ~ 3 min From-terminal – normal operation ~ 2 min < 1 min From-Terminal – wakeup from sleep* ~ 5 min ~ 1 min * Non-GPS IsatM2M terminals will take as long as D+ © 2007 SkyWave Mobile Communications Inc.
