1 Proposal on the Payload factor for N1 vehicles jointly submitted by European Commission, Germany, Japan, Korea and the Netherlands and supported by Transport and Environment (T&E)

2 State of play In 2012 different proposals for payload factors for N1 vehicles were discussed. In DTP meeting of 65th GRPE it was generally agreed to try to come to a harmonized approach also for the payload factor for category 2* (N1) vehicles. * as defined in UN-ECE S.R. 1

3 Compromise proposal for category 2 (N1) vehicles Although different vehicle classifications are used in different regions, based on analysis of customer survey data from Europe, Japan and Korea and using a distance weighted approach it is proposed to apply a harmonized payload factor of 28% for category 2 (N1) vehicles. * for commercial use 31% and for private use (predominant in Japan) 9%
