8. Computers at our Library The Barbara Bush library has over 70 computers available for use by its customers. You can also use YOUR laptop at the library to access the internet. A wireless connection is available at this branch for customers to use their laptops to search the online catalog, access the library databases, and use the Internet.

9. Wi – Fi Connectivity There is no charge for using the Library’s high speed network connection.

10. High Speed Wi-Fi We recently did a fiber optic upgrade. This upgrade increased communications capacity at Barbara Bush from 1.5 Mb/s to 10 Mb/s SPEED COMPARISONS : Dial-Up Modem 56 Kbps DSL, Cable, T1 1.5 Mbps ( 1500 Kbps ) Previous Library Rate 1.5 Mb/S Library Upgrade 10 Mb/S T3 45 Mb/S

CONNECTION SPEEDS  Consider a project that requires downloading a 5 minute movie clip of a lesson on tax forms OR a 5 minute movie clip of actual live footage of the 911 homicide attacks on our citizens.  Using a dial-up modem it would take about 15 minutes to download it  Using a T1 connection it would take about 30 seconds to download it.
