SAF/XC Organizational History
AF/XI AF/SC AF-CIO AF/ILC SECAF CSAF SAF/XC, AF/A6 Over the past couple of years, we have had three major IT organizations within the Air Force since In 2005, we klugged all three together to stand up SAF/XC. Each organization had functional strengths that it brought to the table. AF/XI which was brought about by Gen Jumper was primarily focused on Air and Space C4ISR AF-CIO was focused on Business Process and systems modernization AF/ILC provides Day-to-Day Communications Operations support...AF/A6 The melding of the CIO, ILC, and XI provides a single organization for integrating warfighting integration IT capabilities, information resource management, policy formulation, and integration of current and emerging technologies to meet the Chief’s vision of shortening the kill chain and providing speed, precision, and lethal effects in the battlespace. SAF/XC Priorities Win Today’s Fight
Deliver globally-integrated command and control Provide critical connectivity to joint forces SAF/XC’s Approach & Key Initiatives Airborne Network Air Operations Center Satellite Communications Airborne Gateways AFNETOPS Global Combat Support Sys C4ISR Providing integrated C2 and global connectivity are critical for our forces fighting the GWOT. SAF/XC’s approach cuts across C4ISR, Operational Support, and Network Operations: C4ISR – we’re fielding the Air Operations Center and setting the strategy for an integrated airborne network. Operational Support – we’re using Global Combat Support System to provide a “one-stop-shop” for combat support applications and information. Network Operations – we’re providing global connectivity through satellite communication and the Combat Information Transport System. We’re also defending the network through our various security initiatives. Network Operations Operational Support Meeting the needs of a globally engaged force

SAF/XC Priorities Take Care of Our People
Provide world-class training Enhance individual development and quality of life SAF/XC’s Approach & Key Initiatives Modeling and Simulation Air Force Portal Common Access Card for Life Data Transparency Standard Desktop Config Job Preparation As we’re delivering war-winning capabilities and modernizing our force, we’re not going to lose focus on our number one asset – our people. XC has a three-part approach to this: Job Satisfaction – we’re giving Airmen the tools needed to do their jobs more effectively and efficiently. For example, we’re making data easier to find through our transparency effort, and using modeling and simulation to provide operational training. Quality of Life – we’re helping improve your quality of life with the Air Force Portal, which serves as your “one stop shop” for nearly all your human resource services (e.g., pay, finance, leave). We’re also making deployments and PCSs easier through a single address for life – no disruptions in service! Identity Protection – we’re ensuring that your personal information and identity are protected through initiatives like the Common Access Card logon. Identity Protection Quality of Life Developing Airmen – our #1 priority, our #1 asset

SAF/XC Priorities Prepare for Tomorrow’s Challenges
Gain organizational and process efficiencies Reduce IT legacy systems and optimize resources SAF/XC’s Approach & Key Initiatives Legacy System Migration Workforce Transformation Process Improvement Portfolio Management Common Data Standards Architecture People Recapitalizing and modernizing is about becoming more efficient, capable, and lethal. We’re going to take a hard look at our business processes and only do what’s value added. We’re going to systematically get rid of the waste in our organization. We’re also going to consolidate functionality of some of our legacy systems and undergo some force shaping. XC looks at recapitalization and modernization across people, processes, and technology: People – we’re transforming the C&I career field to deliver the right mix of communication and information professionals with the right skills throughout the Air Force. Processes – we’re undergoing process improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma. We’re also focused on governance and portfolio management to effectively manage resources and capability portfolios. Technology – we’re developing systems with common standards using enterprise architectures to reduce development costs and improve interoperability. Processes Technology Gaining efficiencies without compromising effectiveness
