Students perform their own devised programme
Students perform for 12 – 15 minutes Either individually or within a small ensemble From a score or improvised around a stimulus Grade 6 is the set standard Same mark scheme as for AS Coursework – recorded twice – with and without audience 14th – 18th March 2011.

UNIT 5: COMPOSITION AND TECHNICAL STUDY

Students complete one composition and one technical study
Composition = a 3 minute piece to a set brief Composition briefs = exploiting instruments / music for film and tv / music, dance and theatre Technical study = Bach Chorale Coursework – controlled conditions (14 hours for the composition and 3 for the technical study)

Listening – to unfamiliar music related to the 2 AOS (Areas of Study). 28 marks Understanding – AOS 3 – Applied Music – studying 5 extracts and placing them in a social and historical context. Short note form answers. 26 marks Understanding – AOS 1 – Instrumental Music – understanding continuity and change within 7 set works. Comparison essay. 36 marks
