3 During March 1997, 25 women in management of 17 different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean had the opportunity to attend a management skills intensive training program (Women in Management - WIM), sponsored by SIDA at the University of Luleå – Sweden. As a result of that program, WIM 97 participants, gathered in Lima, Perú, on January 1998, committed to the idea of continuing sharing professional experiences, spreading the knowledge they acquired among women of their countries and encouraging a more active women participation in the region countries development. 5 WHAT IS THE NET? It is a meeting, reflection and ideas exchange point between women and men, who work on and study gender, leadership and women in management development related issues; and who intend to promote equity in gender relations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

6 NET OBJECTIVES * Develop and implement activities to promote Latin America and the Caribbean women in management development. * Articulate interests and encourages women participation in decision-making positions.

10 PROJECTS This area of interest is aimed at the research projects developed by Net, about women related issues such as: leadership, power and management from a gender perspective. There are also included some other research projects, either concluded or in progress, carried out by other organizations. Objectives:  Centralize and disclose research or lectures information, which are already concluded or in progress.  Encourage information and experiences exchange, which would enrich research in progress and/or establish coordination nexus.
