1 H2.0 Nation Building & Development- Civil War -Identify and describe the causes, key people, and events of the Civil War H2.21 People, Culture & Civilizations- Reconstruction - Students will summarize the successes and failures of Reconstruction -Identify the 13 th, 14 th, and 15 th Amendments to the Constitution and explain their impact on the expansion of human rights. -Identify the Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws and explain how they reflected attitudes about race. H1.0 People, Cultures & Civilizations- Frontier -Explore the lure of the West and the reality of life on the frontier as it relates to communication, farming and water issues, mining, and ranching.

4 H4 International Relationships & Power- World War II -Students will describe the causes and effects of World War II on the home front and world. Social Studies Skills: Oral Project -Students will formulate historical questions to help them interpret history through the use of primary and secondary sources. -Students will effectively communicate and present information orally, in writing, and through the development of multimedia presentations, and other forms of technology Social Studies Skills: Decades Research Project -Conduct research by locating, gathering, organizing information and data, and evaluating online and print resources

G6.0 Places & Regions- Geography -Describe physical and human features, describe relationships between regions and compare cultural characteristics. H3 Social Responsibility and Change- American Revolution -Explain the major ideas expressed in the Declaration of Independence, the political and economic causes and effects of the American Revolution

H2 Nation Building & Development Constitutional America -Explain the functions of the three branches of government (executive, legislative, and judicial); system of checks and balances in the design of the U.S. Constitution -Identify the individual and states’ rights protected by the Bill of Rights and their continuing significance H1 People, Cultures & Civilizations- Western Movement -Define the concept of Manifest Destiny and explain the events that led to the expansion of the United States.

8 H2 Nation Building & Development- Nevada Statehood -Summarize the contributions of the diverse populations of Nevada’s early settlers; and explain the events that led to Nevada’s statehood. H3 Social Responsibility & Change- Antebellum America -Describe the Industrialization of slavery in America, the resistance of the enslaved, and the ongoing struggle between proponents and opponents of slavery. -Define abolition and identify key people and events of the movement. C13 Citizenship & the Law- Play by the Rules -Students will know why society needs rules, laws, and government and understand the roles, rights, and responsibilities of citizens.
