23
$100 Question from C3 The atoms that make up a gas can move, which is true of which other state(s) of matter.
24
$100 Answer from C3 What is liquids and solids? Back to Jeopardy
25
$200 Question from C3 A drop of melted wax falls onto a table. It cools and becomes solid. This is how it is different now that it is a solid.
26
$200 Answer from C3 What is it has a fixed shape? Back to Jeopardy
27
$300 Question from C3 Gas molecules apply more pressure against their container when this happens.
28
$300 Answer from C3 What is temperature is increased (or volume is decreased)? Back to Jeopardy
29
$400 Question from C3 Using the following terms to describe a drop of water: atoms, molecule, elements, liquid, and pure matter.
30
$400 Answer from C3 What is: Water is made of the elements hydrogen and oxygen. A molecule of water forms when two atoms of hydrogen combine with one atom of oxygen. Water that contains only H 2 O molecules is pure matter. When water is in its liquid state, atoms glide past one another, allowing the water to take the shape of its container? Back to Jeopardy
31
$500 Question from C3 If you were told the particles in A are in a gas state, you would expect the particles in B to be in this state. Explain
32
$500 Answer from C3 Back to Jeopardy 1.What is B probably contains gases because the particles are about as far apart as they are in A.
33
$100 Question from C4 The volume of a box that is 5 cm wide, 5 cm long, and 1 cm high.
34
$100 Answer from C4 What is 25 cm 3 ? Back to Jeopardy
35
$200 Question from C4 The container in which the particles are moving.
36
$200 Answer from C4 What are all three? Particles are always in motion. Back to Jeopardy
37
$300 Question from C4 The container(s) that have pure substance(s) and the those that have mixtures.
38
$300 Answer from C4 What are A and C are pure. They have either a single type of atom or compound. B is a mixture. It has two different compounds? Back to Jeopardy
39
$400 Question from C4 The substance in container C is most likely to be this. Explain.
40
$400 Answer from C4 What is an solid? The particles are close together and in a regular pattern. Back to Jeopardy
41
$500 Question from C4 The container that holds only one element and the name of the element.
42

53
Final Jeopardy Compare and contrast equal masses of frozen water, liquid water, and water vapor using these terms: states of matter, movement of atoms, volume, shape, and substance.
54
Final Jeopardy Answer 1. What is: Frozen water, liquid water, and water vapor are the same in that each is a substance made of water molecules. These substances differ in that they are different states of matter. Frozen water, or ice, has a fixed volume and shape. The atoms in ice are close together but are able to vibrate in place. Liquid water has a fixed volume but not a fixed shape. The atoms in liquid water are close together like those in ice, but the atoms in liquid water can slide over one another. Water vapor is a gas that has no fixed volume or shape. The molecules that make up water vapor are not close together and can move easily in all directions?
