3 WHAT IS THE PROJECT?  You are to design a piece of furniture within given constraints for the company IKEA. You will model and prototype your piece of furniture in AutoDesk Inventor.  Constraints:  The furniture can have 6 parts maximum, but can have less.  You must decide who your target buyer is (child, adult, elderly, etc.)  You must decide on the purpose (watching TV, eating, studying, etc.)

4 SETTING UP ENGINEERING NOTEBOOKS  Design Process Solution Chart  Design Brief  2-3 pages for brainstorming/RESEARCH  write notes  sketch pictures  cite sources!!!!!

5 7 TH GRADE AGENDA 11/13  Learning Target: I can use the design process to create a piece of furniture.  Furniture Project To Do Today:  Finish Design Brief  Fill out Design Process as you go  Begin Brainstorming and Research  Sketches, notes, citations (x3 at least!)

7 7 TH GRADE AGENDA 11/15  Learning Target: I can use the design process to create a piece of furniture.  To Do Today:  Fill out Design Process as you go  Finish Brainstorming (x6) and Research  Sketches, notes, citations (x3 at least!)  Begin Developing a Solution

8 DEVELOP A SOLUTION  You and your partner use your brainstorming AND research to come up with 3 VERY COMPLETE designs that you like. (Same 3 in each notebook.)  Drawings  Dimensions  Labels/Notes  Once you have 3 designs, you will use the decision matrix to decide which design to move forward with.
