Giesecke & Devrient 06/99; after SMG #29 Changes to GSM 11.11 (R98 & R99) Release 98: Two corrections A083r1: adds reference to new text in 11.14 about change of IMSI via data-download/ SIM toolkit application (see also CR 11.14-A128r5) A084: addition of flag in SIM Service Table to notify ME that SIM supports AT commands Release 99: One new feature A085: alignment with ISO/IEC to allow SIM to contain more than 255 records in a data-field (e.g., 500 ADNs) All changes included in Release 99 version 8.0.0

Giesecke & Devrient 06/99; after SMG #29 Changes to GSM 11.14 (R98 & R99) Release 98: One enhancement and three corrections A128r5: change of IMSI via data-download / SIM toolkit A140, A141r1 and A142: corrections to Release 98 text in TERMINAL RESPONSE if user did not enter characters alignment with 02.30 on usage of some functions (now optional) coding of BCCH channel list aligned with neighbour cell description information element Release 99: Three new features all concern PROVIDE LOCAL INFORMATION command A136: two enhancement on use of languages A137r1: introduction of RF timing advance (to be used, for instance, for approximate location calculation) A138: new response “limited service” to differentiate between this status and “no service” All changes included in Release 99 version 8.0.0

Giesecke & Devrient 06/99; after SMG #29 New Work Items SIM Application Toolkit test specification postponed to SMG #30 WAP WAE User Agent /SIM Toolkit interworking approved; secondary responsibility with SMG4 / T2 As part of SMG9´s mandate for ETSI generic IC card standards the following two WIs were approved: Generic logical and physical interface specification common platform for all ETSI IC cards (GSM, TETRA, UMTS,...) new applications can be built on this core to achieve interoperability this will be based on 3GPP 31.101 Specification of administrative commands and functions common set for the administrative phase of IC cards currently these features are manufacturer dependent

Hamling resigned as SMG9 vice-chairman GSM 02.19 was editorially revised to make it “technological independent” GSM 03.19 SIM API (Stage 2) - JAVA TM API was approved as Release 98 (v. 7.0.0) Enhancement to 03.48 to allow security functions to be used with CB messages
