Effect of Cysteamine on Growth Performance, Digestive Enzyme Activities, and Metabolic Hormones in Broilers C. M. Yang, A. G. Chen,1 Q. H. Hong, J. X. Liu, and J. S. Liu Present by Miss. Natthaya Duanghaklang

Cysteamine
4
Investigate the effects of the dietary addition of CSH on growth performance digestive enzyme activities concentration of metabolic hormones Objective
5
Materials & Methods Bird & Diet Starter ; 1-21 days Finisher; 21-42 days Add CSH 4 levels (0,60,90,120 and 150 mg/kg) Digestive Enzyme Activities in PancreaticTissue and Small Intestinal Contents Amylase activity, Lipase activity, Protease activity Digestive Enzyme Activities in PancreaticTissue and Small Intestinal Contents Amylase activity, Lipase activity, Protease activity Blood Sample Collection and Analysis -On d 21 and 42, blood samples were obtained at 0, 25,50, and 75 min after the morning feeding -analyze the concentrations of thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), insulin (INS), and gastrin (GAS) Blood Sample Collection and Analysis -On d 21 and 42, blood samples were obtained at 0, 25,50, and 75 min after the morning feeding -analyze the concentrations of thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), insulin (INS), and gastrin (GAS) Growth performance ADG, Feed intake, Feed conversion Growth performance ADG, Feed intake, Feed conversion
6
Results and Discussion 1-21 d ; ADG higher in 60 mg of CSH/kg lower in 120 or 150 mg of CSH/kg 21-42 d; ADG higher in 90 mg of CSH/kg lower in 120 or 150 mg of CSH/kg Growth performance 1-21 d ; Daily feed intake lower in 120 or 150 mg of CSH/kg Feed conversion lower in 150 mg of CSH/kg ** Low doses of CSH ; specific effect on SS-mediated inhibition of GH secretion ** High doses of CSH ; disrupt GH secretion by an alternative mechanism (Millard et al., 1983; McLeod et al., 1995)
7
Digestive Enzyme Activities in PancreaticTissue and Small Intestinal Contents Amylase activity, Lipase activity, Protease activity Digestive Enzyme Activities in PancreaticTissue and Small Intestinal Contents Amylase activity, Lipase activity, Protease activity increased ; at 60 and 90 mg of CSH/kg, whereas they were decreased ; at 150 mg of CSH/kg *** CSH can relieve SS inhibits secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancreas and gastrointestine Amylase activity was higher in CSH-added birds than in the control ** Depletion of SS could enhance; - movement of gastrointestine - increase the enzyme secretion of the pancreas and gastrointestine - improve the activities of digestive enzymes

Effects of cysteamine (CSH) on serum concentrations of thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), insulin (INS), and gastrin (GAS) 1-21 d ** 60, 90, 120, and 150 mg of CSH/kg increased the serum concentrations of T4 and T3 ** 120 and 150 mg of CSH/kg increased the serum concentrations of GAS 21-42 d ** 90, 120, and 150 mg of CSH/kg increased the serum concentrations of T4 ** 150 mg of CSH/kg increased the serum concentrations of GAS CSH not affect on INS. ***Cysteamine increased plasma glucose and INS in the short term (1 h), but INS was not modified in a longer term (17 to 24 h) (Rideau et al.,1990)
