More than half of world's CO2- floods are located in Texas. Oil production from CO2-EOR in PB is currently 165,000 bbl oil per day with 25 mtCO2 being injected per annum. Screening of the most mature EOR fields indicates poten- tial of > 30 mtCO2/yr for +20 year period. A combination of pipelines and ship transportation enhances flexibility and economics for initial EOR projects. † Designated fields are “potential” CO2-floods. There are perceived to be extensive opportunities for implementation of new cost-saving technologies in conjunction with developing CO2-EOR in the North Sea. These should subsequently have a substantial export potential to other offshore regions like the Gulf of Mexico.
