2. New Disposition Codes Necessary to support the new “No Patient Found” process New medical codes were added The existing non-medical codes were consolidated into a smaller number of new codes – The new codes will be more meaningful for planning and research

Disposition Code Use At least one unit assigned to an incident must provide a disposition code (CAD requirement) Multiple units may provide a disposition code Any and all units may provide comments – Keep in mind that all comments become part of the permanent CAD record All of the above has not changed and is how VisiNet Mobile has always been set up

5. What’s New Three new disposition codes for medical incidents MedPT – Does not require comments along with disposition code MedNP and MedBoth – Require comments in addition to disposition code

6. Why Comments? “Patients” are documented via First Responder Patient Records (FRPRs) or EMS documentation so these do not need to be documented in the disposition comments To eliminate the Public Contact Register, “No Patients” must be documented in the disposition comments

7. When Comments are Required Must list “NO PT” and then number of “No Patients” – Wording of “NO PT” must be exact and followed by a space then the number of “No Patient(s)” List all of the following that apply: – No person found – Has capacity – Didn’t call – Not injured/ill – No assistance wanted

8. MedPT This code is used for medical incidents in which there is one or more “Patient(s)” or “Refusals” and no “No Patient(s)” as defined by the Office of the Medical Director (OMD) This disposition code does not require comments

10. MedNP This code is used for medical incidents in which there are one or more “No Patient(s)” as defined by OMD, and no “Patient(s)” or “Refusal(s)” Use of this disposition code requires comments

13. MedBoth This code is used for medical incidents in which there is one or more “Patient(s)” or “Refusal(s)” and one or more “No Patient(s)” as defined by OMD Use of this disposition code requires comments pertaining only to the “No Patient(s)”

14. MedBoth Example Traffic injury with three people involved One person calls 911 and wants to be evaluated 2 do not want to be evaluated and do not appeared injured or altered

Multiple Units For incidents involving multiple units all “No Patient(s)” must be documented They can all be documented by one unit or the documentation split between the units – At least one unit must provide comments concerning the “No Patient(s)” EMS documents “No Patient(s)” via CAD comments in the same manner as FIRE units

17. Multiple Units (con’t) If split, all units are required to provide a disposition code and comments The important point is that all “No Patients” are documented in the comments To prevent missing documentation or duplicate documentation will require communication between all units, FIRE and EMS

18. Multiple Units Example E1, E2, and M1 respond to traffic injury with 3 “Patients” and 5 “No Patients”. M1 asks for FIRE to document the “No Patients”. Depending upon the activities performed by each fire unit: E1 could have disposition of MedNP and comments concerning the 5 “No Patients”(if E1 did not assist with pt care) and E2 with a disposition of MedPT without comments (if E2 assisted with pt care) or E1 could have disposition of MedBoth and comments concerning 2 “No Patients” (if E1 assisted with pt care) and E2 with a disposition of MedBoth and comments concerning 3 “No Patients” (if E2 assisted with pt care) or E1 could have disposition of MedBoth and comments concerning 5 “No Patients” (if E1 assisted with pt care) and E2 with a disposition of SrvOth (if E2 performed scene safety duties only)
