1 Do Now:  Without talking, read the lab script which will tell you how to dissect a heart Reminder:  Disease projects due on Tuesday 19 th FebHātarei, 18 Paenga-whāwhā 2015

2 Safety:  Like any meat, the heart may be carrying food poisoning bacteria. So: wear rubber gloves thoroughly wash hands afterwards newspaper on desks newspaper + hearts into black bin bags afterwards Would anyone prefer not to watch or dissect?

3 Procedure 1: 1)Newspaper on desks 2)Put on rubber gloves 3)Do Investigation 1 (10min) One person in your group to tick off each step on your lab script when you have done it / found the relevant part of the heart

4 Procedure 2: 1)Scissors and scalpel from Mr Cooper 2)Do Investigation 2 (15 min) One person in your group to tick off each step on your lab script when you have done it / found the relevant part of the heart 3)Clean-up:  Wrap heart & gloves in newspaper  Put in black bin bag  Wash hands and scissors  Wipe down tables

Explain your answer.
