Ignite Afterschool Policy Platform – Key Details Requesting $50 million over the Fiscal Year 2016-17 biennium Competitive grants to afterschool programs, administered by the Minnesota Department of Education Up to 7% of funds for admin, evaluation, and statewide quality and professional development supports Prioritize funding for programs serving primarily low-income youth Up to 1/3 of funds set aside for programs focusing on STEM learning or Career Readiness

Minnesota Youth Council KARINA The Minnesota Youth Council (MYC) is a collaboration of youth and adults working together to empower and mobilize youth across the state to exercise their voices, opinions and ideas to take action on youth issues. The MYC is a representative group of 36 young people working alongside adults, equally representing each US Congressional district in Minnesota.

CDF’s Legislative Priorities Affordable, accessible child care for all Minnesota families –Invest in the Basic Sliding Fee Child Care Assistance Program so that all eligible families can receive the support they need in order to go to work or school; –Increase CCAP provider reimbursement rates so more families can find affordable child care; and –Improve the state child and dependent care tax credit to help more low- and moderate-income families afford the high cost of child care. Paid Family Leave Insurance Program Guaranteed access to Part C Early Intervention Services for young homeless children Improved standards of care for incarcerated pregnant and postpartum mothers
