Only 2 other Nazi’s had positions in the New Government.
Nazi’s support had fallen from 37% to 33% during To control the Reichstag he needed at least 50% of the vote.
Hitler could be sacked by President Hindenburg at any time.
Hindenburg and Franz Von Papen planned to use Hitler like a puppet from ‘behind the scenes’.

8. By the end of 1934 Hitler was in a totally different position;
Von Papen had resigned.
Hindenburg was dead.
Hitler was President and Chancellor- The Fuhrer
The army had taken an oath of personal loyalty to Hitler.
The Nazi’s were the ONLY political party.

Why had Hitler become Dictator of Germany?
Hitler made compromises with people to make them trust him like the Von Papen so that he could get a majority in the Reichstag and pass laws like the Enabling Act which gave him ultimate power and control
Hitler acted legally- he used
the Weimar constitution to
get power by passing laws like the
Enabling Act. This made him
seem respectable and law abiding
and so people trusted him. He also
used the law to ban the Communists
after the Reichstag fire.
