2-3-2 TERMINAL OBJECTIVE n 2.3.0 To familiarize Flight Equipment personnel with the proper procedures for correctly fitting aircrew with all components of the Aircrew CBR ensemble.
3
2-3-3 ENABLING OBJECTIVES 2.3.1 Discuss the procedures for mask fitting. 2.3.2 Perform procedures for orinasal mask sizing. 2.3.3 Perform procedures for hood sizing 2.3.4 Perform procedures for fitting of nose occluder. 2.3.5 Discuss final fitting and adjustment procedures. 2.3.6 Discuss the procedures for BTN fitting.
4
2-3-4 OVERVIEW n Introduction n Initial sizing, fitting and adjustment –Orinasal mask –Hood –Nose occluder n Final fitting and adjustment n Fitting of BTN
5
2-3-5 INTRODUCTION n The procedures shall be performed at the designated organizational maintenance level by a qualified Aircrew Survival Equipmentman. NOTE To make up a complete assembly, the appropriate mask assembly and nose occluder kit must be individually requisitioned.
6
2-3-6 INITIAL SIZING and FITTING n Mask Preparation –Select proper mask size –Remove rubber blanking plugs if nose occluder is to be used. NOTE Retain blanking plugs for future use if mask is converted to variant 1
7
2-3-7 ATN SIZING and FITTING n Orinasal mask sizing –Invert hood to expose the mask –Hold mask firmly to face –Crimp hoses so no air can be breathed through –Inhale deeply to test mask seal Video

10
2-3-10 ATN SIZING and FITTING n Hood sizing –Don skull cap and/or headband –Turn pusher fan “ON” –H-manifold knob in horizontal “ON” position. –Hood outlet valve open vs closed –Don the hood Video
11
2-3-11 Un-inverting Mask

2-3-12 Hood sizing Back
13
2-3-13 ATN SIZING and FITTING n Nose occluder fitting –Select nose occluder size occluder sizeoccluder size n 60% wear 6L –Apply Krytox to shaft assembly –Lubricate o-ring seals –Insert shaft assemblies –Position stirrup assembly –Check function n Refer to Fitting Flow Diagram for trouble shooting. Diagram Video

2-3-16 FITTING FLOW DIAGRAM
17
2-3-17 FINAL FITTING & ADJUSTMENT n Donning for fitting –Don CMU-29(V)1/P or (V)2/P vest –Don skull cap –Turn pusher fan “ON” –H-manifold horizontal “OPEN” –Don the hood (hood outlet valve “OPEN”) –Pusher fan “OFF” –Don helmet
18
2-3-18 FINAL FITTING & ADJUSTMENT n Donning for fitting (cont.) – Connect intercommunication unit – Pusher fan “ON” – Connect toggle harness assembly to helmet – Flip V-bow down in to flight position – Clamp hood ventilation hose – Wearer holds breath –Check for leaks n Perform location drills and EPs
19
2-3-19 BTN FITTING n Chemical Under- garments –Check sitting, crouching, and reaching –Avoid issuing a bulky or oversized liner –Correct fit allows proper integration with flight suit
20
2-3-20 BTN FITTING n Gloves & Inserts (old style gloves) –Issued as a set –Snug but not restrictive fit –Correct fit allows proper integration with flyer’s gloves n Gore HSF liner –Snug but not restrictive fit –Worn with Canadian flight gloves
21
2-3-21 BTN FITTING n Disposable footwear covers –Find best fit n Chemical protective socks –One size only, no fit required
22
2-3-22 Lessons Learned n Aircrew should plan on using winter sized flight gear. n Go one to two sizes up on flight gloves (for old system gloves) n Have G-Suit fit check prior to donning. n CPU measurement. Top =flight suit size. Drawers = Jean waist size n Proper ensemble fitting is critical for CBR protection and aircrew comfort. n When fitting recommend leaving 6L nose occluder in mask as 75% wear this size. Have another mask in which you can switch out nose occluder sizes
23
2-3-23 Questions? n How do you size for the mask? n How do you size for the CPUs? n How do you size for the CBR socks?
