2  A balanced school calendar more evenly distributes the days students are currently attending school and the days they are on vacation across the year.  It is not a Year-Round Calendar  More “Balanced Calendar” Small changes that could result in a positive impact on student success.

3 Would a more Balanced Calendar…  Address Summer Melt  Create Operational Efficiency  Reduce Stress and Burnout  Provide More Staff Development  Enhance Dual Enrollment / Early College Opportunities  Provide Quality Intersession Opportunities ▪ Remediation ▪ Enrichment

4 Would a more Balanced Calendar create issues with…  “Countywide” Coordination  Childcare  Summer vacations  Summer employment  Extracurricular Activities  Infrastructure needs/costs  Human Resource considerations  Out-of-County personnel  Transfer students  Athletics

5  ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!  We are seeking to have a conversation and an investigation about a possibility.  We will do what is best for students based on our available resources and support.

6  Provide Information  Podcasts and Related Information on the JCISD and Local District Websites  School/District Newsletters  Media Outlets  School District Forums  Seek Input  School District Forums  Live Online Discussion (March)  Phone Survey (March)  Evaluate the Findings (Spring)  Board of Education Decision (June)

7  All county districts must reach consensus on a calendar.  Each Board has autonomy to make a decision.  The districts would need at least a full year to plan for any change in the calendar.
