2 Performance Goals Goal #1: Decreasing the number and seriousness of behavioral incidents at the school 1) Rate of all incidents involving suspension, expulsion or arrest Calculation: # of incidents involving suspension, expulsion and arrest divided by # of students enrolled in the school 2) Rate of severe incidents that count toward persistently dangerous status Calculation: # of incidents counting toward persistently dangerous status divided by # of students enrolled in the school

3 Performance Goals Goal #2: Decreasing the number of students who become involved in the juvenile justice system Rate of students becoming involved in the juvenile justice system Calculation: # of students who have become involved in the juvenile justice system divided by # of students enrolled in the school

4 Performance Goals Goal #3: Improving the high school’s daily attendance rate 1) Average daily attendance Calculation: average number of students present each day of school year divided by average number of students enrolled in the school. 2) Percentage of students that miss 54 days or more Calculation: # of students who missed 54 or more days of school divided by # of students enrolled in the school

5 Performance Goals Goal #4: Decreasing rate of students failing the ninth grade 1) Rate of first-time ninth graders failing Calculation: # of first-time ninth grade students who fail to move onto the 10th grade at any high school in the district divided by # of first-time students in ninth grade at the high school 2) Rate of repeating ninth grade students failing for a subsequent year Calculation: # of repeating ninth grade students who fail to move onto the 10th grade at any high school in the district divided by # of repeating students in ninth grade at the high school

6 Performance Goals Goal #5: Increasing the reading and math scores of its students 1) Percentage of students testing at grade level Calculation: # of students testing at grade level divided by # of students enrolled in the school 2) Percentage of students no longer Basic Skills Deficient Calculation: # of students who improve one or more EFL levels in reading and/or math divided by # of basic skills deficient students enrolled in the school

7 Performance Goals Goal #6: Decreasing the school’s dropout rate 1) Graduation rate 1 Graduation rate = [on- time graduates in year x] ÷ [(first-time entering ninth graders in year x – 4) + (transfers in) – (transfers out)] 2) Graduation rate 2 Graduation rate = [number of first-time entering 9th graders at the high school in year x who graduate from any high school in the School District in year x + 4] divided by [number of first-time entering 9th graders at the high school in year x].

8 Performance Goals Goal #7: Increasing the proportion of school’s graduating seniors who are placed in post- secondary education or employment 1) Percentage of graduating seniors who enroll in post-secondary education Calculation: # of school’s graduating seniors in enrolled in post-secondary education following graduation divided by # of school’s graduating seniors

9 Performance Goals Goal #8: Mentoring Participation ** Targets will be negotiated with all schools once contracts with community-based organizations for mentoring are in place. Calculation: of students participating in a mentoring relationship with adult mentors divided by total # of students projected to participate in mentoring programs throughout period of performance
