It includes a number of islands off England, Scotland and Wales such as the Isle of Wight, Anglesey, the Isles of Scilly, the Hebrides, and the island groups of Orkney and Shetland.

Population of the United Kingdom The estimated population of the United Kingdom in the 2011 census was 63.182 million, of whom 31.029 mln were men and 32.153 mln – women. Based on the 2011 census the population of England was 53.012 mln (84% of the UK), Scotland was estimated at 5.295 mln (8.4%), Wales was 3.063 mln(4.8%) and Northern Ireland 1.811 mln (2.9%).
