9 Characteristics of the ECU
Specifications of the Integrated Trailer-ECU-Generator (ITEG) (B0018) The Integrated Trailer-ECU-Generator (ITEG) is an integrated HMMWV towable ECU generator combo

10 Characteristics of the ECU
Specifications of the 10 Ton ECU (B0010) Provides 120,000 BTU cooling capacity Provides 47,000 BTU heating capacity The ECU operates using 208VAC, 3 Phase, 50/60Hz power supplied by the generator Refrigerant Charge: 10 lbs of R-22 Manufacturer- Nordic Air, INC., Geneva, Ohio

11 Characteristics of the ECU
Specifications of the Generator Provides 22kW of electrical power The generator is equipped with 208VAC, 3 Phase, 60Hz, 60A power supply system and two 120V, 3 phase, 15A utility outputs

12 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Circuit Breakers The ECUs is wired with two circuit breakers, main and control breakers, that are opened when it’s rated current flow is exceeded

13 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Phase Monitor This component ensures that all three phases of power are entering in the correct order and uninterrupted

14 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Selector Switch 1 Used to select the operating mode needed for current conditions

15 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Selector Switch 2 The remote gives the user the capability to control the desired temperature from within the confined space

16 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Thermostat A control device that responds to the surrounding air temperatures of the confined space

17 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Condenser Fan Cycling Switch Cycles the condenser motor to low speed to allow for low ambient temperature operation

18 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Time Delay Relay 1 Prevents compressor from short cycling Compressor will not turn back on for two minutes

19 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Time Delay Relay 2 Allows the ECU to start and pressurize in low ambient conditions

20 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Fan Motors Are used to rotate the evaporator and condenser fans blades at the specified RPM

21 Characteristics of the ECU
Electrical Components Main Heating Elements When electrical current is fed into the heating elements it meets resistance and heat is created

22 Characteristics of the ECU
Mechanical Components Compressor The type of compressor used in the ECUs is a scroll type compressor

23 Characteristics of the ECU
Mechanical Components Discharge Service Port Used to add or remove refrigerant

24 Characteristics of the ECU
Mechanical Components Condenser Coil Turns high pressure, high temperature vapor into a high pressure high

25 Characteristics of the ECU
Filter Drier Filters the impurities and absorbs moisture from liquid refrigerant. Sight Glass Used to monitor the refrigerant charge. Thermal Expansion Valve Serves two purposes, it separates the high side from the low side and it also meters the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator.

26 Characteristics of the ECU
Mechanical Components Evaporator Turns low temperature, low pressure liquid refrigerant into low pressure, low temperature super heated vapor

27 Characteristics of the ECU
Protection Features High Pressure Cutout Switch Opens the circuit to the compressor relay if the pressure rises above a predetermined threshold

28 Characteristics of the ECU
Protection Features Low Pressure Cutout Switch Opens the circuit to the compressor relay if the pressure falls below a predetermined threshold

29 Characteristics of the ECU
Pressure Relief Valve Will discharge refrigerant if the internal pressures rises above a certain threshold Heater Safety System Two high limit trip switches set to break if electric heater compartment temperature rises above 140°F

31 Set-up and Installation of the ECU
Unit Setup The ECU should be set in a level location, not be on an incline greater than 10° in any direction The ECU is should be set in a location relative to the shelter to allow the ducts to lay straight UNCLASSIFIED

32 Set-up and Installation of the ECU
Gear Be sure to remove all gear stowed in the storage compartment that is located in the condenser section The storage compartment is designed to accommodate Two 10’ flexible ducts (16” compressed) Remote with 50’ cord Technical Manual 50’ Power Cord Replace and secure storage compartment cover

33 Set-up and Installation of the ECU
Duct Installation Remove and roll up canvas covers Loosen straps and expand flexible duct Attach one end of the duct to the ECU Route the free end of the duct to the shelter

34 Set-up and Installation of the ECU
Cable Installation First, attach the power cable to the ECU Then route the other end to the 208VAC 50/60Hz power source and attach it according to the color code in the wiring diagram Attach the remote to the ECU and route it into the shelter

35 Set-up and Installation of the ECU
Other Preparations Be sure that the condensate drain is free of restrictions Remove the protective canvass covers that are located over the evaporator and condenser coils and condenser fan discharge

36

37 Operating the ECU Three operating modes
Fan Cool Heat The thermostat controls the operation of the unit This controls the cooling process of the ECU

38 Operating the ECU Operating Modes Fan Cool Heat EVAPORATOR FAN STARTS

39 Operating the ECU Thermostat Bypass
The bypass circuit allows the unit to run continuously even after the thermostat set point has been reached

40 Operating the ECU Starting the Unit
Before connecting any power source do a 360° Connect the external power supply to power receptacle Place the circuit breakers in the ON position Select the operating mode Fan Cool Heat Adjust thermostat to desired setting

41 Operating the ECU Shutdown Procedures Emergency Shutdown Procedures
Place the Selector Switch in the OFF position Ensure the fan and compressor stop Emergency Shutdown Procedures Place the main circuit breaker in the OFF position Disconnect the power cord from the main power source to interrupt incoming power Disconnect the power from the ECU
