Conservation Practices (No-Cost) Keep your thermostat at 68 degrees in the winter and 78 degrees in the summer (health permitting) Adjust thermostat up/down when you leave home or go to bed Lower your water heater’s thermostat to 120 degrees F Only run full dishwashers and loads of laundry Turn off the water when brushing teeth, washing dishes, etc. Take shorter showers
