Why is it important to be able to summarize? 1)It forces you to look closely at a reading passage, paying special attention to the most important parts. 2)It increases your understanding of a reading passage. 3)It helps you retain the information. 3. HOW? How do you write a summary?  Writing a summary can be difficult, but it’s important for you to do.  One of the hardest parts of writing a summary is figuring out how to even begin!  There are four steps to follow when writing a summary that will help you get started. It still may be a difficult thinking process, but these steps will give you a way to begin. How do you write a summary? I KNOW! I KNOW! I am full of PRIDE!
