1 Electrical Thermography The Electrical Thermography serves to detect thermal anomalies in electrical installations. Electrical installations and facilities are flown through by a load current. On the one hand there are the „natural“ inner resistances and on the other side contact resistances. These resistances lead to a heating up of the components. The main task of the electrical thermography is to find defective electrical connections and to localize anomalies of overload on wires, components and switchboards. The increasing temperature at connecting parts often has a simple reason. The temperature rises because of broken screw connections, broken clips or springs or because of the decomposing of pressure discs. For the most part, heatings appear because of a rise of contact resistances. Another reason for a heating up can be wrong material used for the connections. The wrong material causes high inner and contact resistances which lead to a heating. If you use Thermography for electrical maintanance you can simply find Hot Spots on components. Here you can see one fuse which is much warmer than the rest of the fuses. It is now about the expert to say, whether this temperature is normal for this component or not. The contact spring weared out over the years, so the clamping force is not strong enought to transmit the electrical power. Out of this reason, the contact resistance increases and the component starts to heat up. The reason of the heating after the startup is trivial: When the construction was assembled, the bore holes were too small, so they were bored up. Because of this, there occured some edges around the bore hole. These edges were not removed. Now the electrical power goes through the very small cross-section of the edge with an increased resistance. This causes the heating. 2 Here you can see, that the connection between the two parts of the scissor heats up in comparison to the rest of the construction. The error can be found in a defect shim. Without a thermal imager, this error would be very difficult to find. High Energy Processes For production processes which need high energy, for example iron and steel production, as well as brick and glas production, Thermography is used for the equipment condition monitoring of industrial kilns and other energy intensive facilities. Especially measurements in the high temperature sector are of interest. Machines, arbors and bearing are stressed by the high temperatures and have to be checked preventively. This reducts the default risk. Thermography supports especially the following parameters: 1.Security of employees and preventive reduction of fire risks 2.Assurance of process temperatures - Product quality - Production efficiency 3.Energy efficiency Applications Energy-intensive facilities like kilns do not only cause high energy costs if their isolation is insufficient, they can become a security risk towards fire and health risks. Air blowers are important parts of industrial facilities. They usually work under known stresses and temperatures. If the temperature goes higher, caused by an error of the mechanical components, you can see it on the infrared picture. At energy intensive facilities like this glas-production, the camera serves for several quality checks. The cooling process is one of the most important things. With our cameras. it can be simply checked and documented. testo 885 -Detector Size 320 x 240 pixel -Large Field of View 30° standard objektive -High Temperature up to 1.200°C -SiteRecognition-Technology, automates the documentation of your IR-pictures -SuperResolution Technology enables an IFOV of 0,4 mrad (tele lens) and 1,0 mrad for the standard objektive -Changeable 11° tele objektiv -testo IR-Soft, cost- and licence free evaluation software with professional analysis features. -Panorama Assistent for the measurement on big objects -twistable handle to ensure a comfortable handling + movable display How to invalidate prejudices of the customer …  … the camera is to heavy and unbalanced Please take one of our object lenses in your hand.
